My boy Hodge had a misadventure with a bone on Thursday. He's been getting a raw soup bone several times a week since he was a wee lad of 9weeks and has never had a problem until now. The chunk in the picture is always left behind and after the ants have cleaned it up I throw it in the bin. The vets all agree that something startled him to swallowing this peice, and i believe it was my Betty bantam making a sudden racket quite close to the house, where he was eating. It's very rare that she makes any noise up this end of the yard and it would have startled him more than it startled me. When I went out to see what was happening with her I found Hodge drooling heavily and looking stressed. I took him to the hose where he had a good drink, but I could see he wasn't right with himself. .. so off to the local vet. At 3.30p.m. I was told he was good to go at 6p.m. About 20mins later they called back to say he was drooling heavily again and they were going to do xrays. They then told me they didn't have the expertise or equipment needed, so he would have to go to The Vet specialist hospital in $ydney.

By 10.30p.m. my son was handed the $4500 bone. But my boy Hodge is priceless. The vets used a endoscope and avoided an additional 12k surgery charge. Hodge is very lucky!
