(Day 1) 29-Day Giving Challenge - A place for sharing.

Today I am hoping to be able to go out and about a bit. Bank, Dollar Store, Feed Store, Grocery Store, Produce Stand, Meat Market and Natural Food Store, Wow, when I write it out I realize that I better visit them in a kind of priority order, I am likely to not be able to do it all. Anyway, I am hoping to Take something to the feed store as a thank you for all of the help and friendship they have given me since I started raising chickens. I plan to also be open to other opportunities for giving. I will let you all know how it goes.

Debi and Damummis - I have so many right now it is criminal. I had hoped to use them like tiles with a light behind them for my backsplash in my kitchen. Still hoping. Maybe we can start another tread sometime and talk about them, and compare. My faves are Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper. I have some great reds, oranges and yellows....Just not very big.

Rainplace...I had to practice being gracious... lol...how silly is that?

I would literally say 'you're welcome' and 'oh that is so sweet' etc outloud until I could say it without sounding like my mouth was full of cotton.

Since then, I have noticed how thankful people look or maybe its relief when I am able to accept their comment or compliment. The cashier yesterday at Sams Club asked me if DD was out of school for the day due to weather or if she was Homeschooled. I replied that she is homeschooled and she told me that I deserved all of the credit in the world, cause it must be very hard. I responded with a smile and an 'awww. that is so sweet of you to say'. She ended up feeling good about her own compliment. How cool is that?

And I know that I personally am uncomfortable when I compliment someone and they look pained at the idea. For example 'I love your new haircut!' and then I hear 'really? its not at all what I had hoped for'. Egads! Hush up, smile and help me make this a great conversation.... lol.

I actually taught a communcations class to Human Service workers and one whole chapter was on this subject. We as a society are not good at accepting compliments and good deeds, yet we love to give them so..... that leaves us in a bit of a mess doesnt it

To sum it all up... Allow others to bless you so that they too may be blessed and do it with as much grace as you can muster.

I challenge you to find 3 times between now and the end of February where you are able to open your heart to the giving of others and report back. We would love to hear of your success and the blessing that you were able to be for others.

Go get em Rainplace!

I have to give each and everyone of you who are participating in this challenge "KUDOS". This is harder than I thought it would be. I don't know when I stopped being polite. I use to be sooo much better at it. I have notice that in general people are not use to it. Holding doors, saying thank you, please and your welcome has made most everyone today smile. Maybe WE as a group can start a fad of being nice and giving freely of ourselves. This world needs it, BAD!!!!

So for everyone................... GOOD JOB!!

I was busy painting today so didn't get out. My DH was fixing some drawers that took alot of sanding. He has shoulder problems so I gave him a back rub.

Drove DS to the bus this morning because it was rainy and windy. He was pleasantly surprised.

Not sure if this counts....Didnt 'kill' other DS after he rear-ended another car with mine yesterday. He was also pleasantly surprised but I think he thinks I am just in shock and will eventually 'kill' him.
