Day 11 - Veins or blood ring?

Thanks for a little hope!

Dead eggs have an air cell too. Small red lines coming off of those rings are life. Do not toss anything with veining that goes towards the air cell. A blood ring is obvious and the chick doesn't wiggle like one with veins. A blood ring will also appear clear towards the top by the air cell.

Another newbie question: "the wiggle"????
Now that I have a candle box.... if I can place an egg in a stationary position: what should I expect to see at 12 -14 days? do they swim around or should I keep my eyes peeled for a minute for subtle movement?

When you start getting to day 14+ you will not see the "swimming" around, they are getting to big. You will see movements of the chick, like its leg moving, head or wing moving.

Try to take pictures when you candle and we may be able to tell you what we see. Good Luck!

Since they take up a good part of the egg at this point, you won't see a whole lot of movement, but you should be able to see some movement in it. I usually just go by how big the 'blob' gets from day 10-14, and 14-18 to know if they are still alive. They rarely cooperate and move when I am looking!
