Hatch Day is over, and the final count was 21 from 30 original eggs. There were 15 Spitzhauben eggs and 15 Jersey Giant eggs originally. Head count this morning revealed 13 JG and 8 Spitzhaubens. I got my eggs from okcarla they were obviously very fertile eggs! I left my chicks in the bator til the last egg. They did tromp, stumble and stagger all over, and none of them seem to be the worse for wear. I was afraid if I opened it sooner that it would throw off temps or humidity. Though for some reason after about 10 hatched the humidity went up to 90%! Must have been all of that respiration going on in there. I barely cracked the edge of the lid and pulled out the 2 sponge pieces I had along the edge when the humidity shot up. Good luck with your hatches. I am so amazed by the whole thing. It's crazy that I've had kids, seen all sorts of pigs, cows, horses, dogs and cats born and yet it's still astounding that whole chickens come out of eggs! I'll post pics when I get back from errands today.
