Day 18 and air cell too large!

There are 5 small air holes in the top of the incubator (always open - no plugs supplied), and the 2 larger plugged holes - I re-read my instructions and it says only remove plugs if steamy or after the hatch to help with drying? What do you think I should do?

I hatched (they hatched themselves) 2 chicks from 2 eggs and the humidity was 50% last days I had 3 vent holes open and then I stuffed foam in one to try to get the Hum up a bit and kept adding a LITTLE water at a time to the bottom THROUGH a Hole

THey hatched clean and healthy.....I am fairly new but this is the first time I have had good success

dont panic and just try to keep yourself busy to stay away from the incubator that is the best thing you can do for your chicks right now

Just curious about "touching the cover"? Why does everybody say this? I know the hen has to get off the nest sometime, so what happens if you remove the cover? I mean before they actually start hatching out, such as during pipping?

My humidity at the moment is around 61% so it has dropped since this morning - is this ok or should I use the method you suggest to add more water (I know it's the area, not the amount)?

It's good to have someone to talk to - my family all think I'm nuts to get so stressed about the eggs - we're all looking forward to them but it seems I'm the only one who can talk for hours about them and want to be peeking at them all the time (I'm not opening the lid), I had no idea what I was letting myself in for - but I cant get enough of them lol.

Thanx again so much.
