Day 18 is tomorrow!!

Obviously I'm inpatient and I was worrying about humidity. I candled my single white egg and the beak is in the air sac, but I didn't see it move or chirp... This is why I'm concerned. Should I open these eggs? I heard chirping earlier, what's the possibility they're dead?

I am almost terrified to give advice. I know mine would have died if I hadn't. I know there is a limited amount of air in there and if they don't break the shell they won't make it. I would or did but I don't know if that is right for you. I am really sorry.....I know it is a hard decision.

Did you try tapping the egg and talking to it?

ShellieESterling, when were your 21 days up?. Today at 2pm? I had chicks come 4 days late. I know what you are going through. Can you guess what it was like waiting 4 extra days. They may come a little late. I know its hard but keep the bator closed so the humidity does not go down. That may be harder for them. Wait a couple of days because if they are not ready and you go to help you could break blood vessels. They will come out when they are ready. I can only tell you what I was told..... I know I had a chair sitting at my bator watching them. Good luck and give them time.

sending good vibes your way. Keep us updated.

Yeah... I'm afraid to make a decision on it.

Yes, today was day 21. But I heard chirping earlier and now there's nothing. No movement, no pips... nothing. I was worried about the humidity being too high, not too low. It doesn't seem to be effected when I open the door, since my basement is damp. The temperature always goes right back up too...

Man, this sucks. I wish I had some beer in the house. I'd just drink myself to sleep

I think what we need to know is how long it is safe for them to wait to pip the egg after they are in the air cell. Anyone???? I could tell mine were getting really weak. You are using egg cartons, right? If so, at least that will keep them upright so they don't have water draining into the end with the air cell. Yeah, I was thinking I needed a drink a few times during all this. I can't believe I am planning my next hatch already!!!!!

Sh*t, no, I took the carton out on Day 18 and laid the eggs on their sides! I didn't want to chance them pipping low. Go figure. I've always hatched in cartons, I don't know why I messed with a good thing.

This is frustrating...
