Day 18 is tomorrow!!

Yes, my last name is Boyd too!! Nice to meet ya!

Well, I assisted my one chick out, there was no room for it to move around and zip out. It did bleed a bit as well, so I'm hoping it will be okay. It's back in the bator drying off, but it's curled up, so I give it a nudge every few minutes to see if it's still alive, and so far, so good. Hopefully in awhile it will try to move around some. I don't know what to do with the other's that have pipped. I hear weak peeping from the egg that first pipped at noon, I may try and help it out too, I just don't know.

you have been so sweet. These guys are soooo cute!!!!

Well, I know I am going to have to help all of mine since it is a humidity problem, so I am helping as soon as they pip now.....and so far all have needed it. Good luck with the others. I know it is a hard decision. So, just how cute is the little guy?

Come on shellie.........I am rooting for the little guys.

I am so sorry to hear that you guys are having problems

I sure hope they come out of it ok.... at least, if they are alive now, you can hopefully save them!

Nothing new to report this morning. I filled my hydrometer back up and didn't hear any peeping. I have not one single pip yet... I figure I'll take the boys out to the beach today and get my mind off this... How aggravating...

Oh shellie......so sorry there is nothing going on yet. Don't give up on them yet. I agree, going out and getting your mind off them for awhile will probably be the best thing you can do.

Well, I am continuing to hand hatch babies. I have three dried out and in the brooder. One has a curled foot but otherwise they are all perfect and soooooooo sweet. Gotta go find one of those cardboard boot threads in a sec for that little guy. One is just about to go to the brooder with those 3 so she isn't in the way while I hatch out the others. 7 are opened up where they can breathe and soaking in wet cloths. All are chirping their little heads off. One died before ever pipping. None of the yolk sack was even absorbed. So, with MAJOR humidity issues I have 4 out and looking good and the potential for 7 more. I was up all night with these guys. I finally dozed with the light on and on top of the covers for a few minutes.

So, how is mamaboyd doing today? And everyone else who is due a hatch?

Good morning! luvmychicknkids, glad to hear all is going well so far. Sorry to hear that you lost one though.

Shellie, hope things really get moving today while you are at the beach.

So far we have had 4 chicks hatch with assistance, one died over night

his yolk sack did not absorb) He was a cutie! The smallest one is racing around in the brooder eating and drinking. The other 2 are in the brooder, but they were squished in the eggs at a funny angle and they don't want to lift their heads and aren't walking around at all, but I'm hoping with some rest, they will come around. They are big chicks as well and had absolutely no extra room to move around and get themselves out of the egg on their own.

that they survive. I have 2 more eggs that pipped late last night so I'm keeping a close eye on them as well. I did not get to bed until 3 am, and up again at 6:45, I need a snooze but my 2 yr old is being a little devil today

, can't wait til it's his nap time!!

Sorry to hear that you lost one, too. I guess we just need to remember that without our assistance we would have lost all these we helped. I lost one more. She was upside down and literally just kicked until she had broken a bunch of veins.....her shell was full of blood when I took her out to see what happened. Everyone else is good so far. I still just have 4 in the brooder......the others are still resting in the incubator. This was definitely a learning experience. I KNOw I have to have a way to check my humidity. I wouldn't have dreamed of starting a hatch without if I hadn't been in such a hurry (since my roo was killed).

I am attaching a pic of the 4 mostly fluffy ones. Getting the little brats to cooperate was not easy.

Pics, everyone who has babies?????

Oh luvmy, they're adorable! I'm so sorry that you guys lost a few chicks!
I had the boys out for awhile this morning. My 3 year old didn't want to listen at the beach, so I called it a day around noon. We came home and had some lunch. I checked the eggs. Nada.
I guess technically I can't b*tch, since it's not day 21 until after 2pm here. My humidity has always been the same, even when I hatched years ago and I never had any problems. So hopefully, they're just late.
