if you candle too much they may not hatch. if you candled on day 18 that is enough.

I had 6 eggs and I think I lost 2 because I had to know if they internally pipped. I should have kept hands off.

Thanks for the info! I am having a hard time getting my humidity over 69%. Should that be adequate??

Be careful not to get it too high, once they start hatching your humidity will shoot way up .. During hatch mine would spike to over 75..It turned out ok tho, had a couple "sticky chicks" but all turned out ok.

you can safely candle them right up until they externally pip, at that point do not open the incubator or you will cause a humidity drop.

Ok, guys. First of all, we need pictures. I know some of those little buggars should have hatched by now.

Second, I have the Brinsea mini Eco. I've been running it for about a week. My eggs should arrive tomorrow. I will let them rest a day & set them on Thursday. With this little bator not having a humidity monitor, how do I know?

The directions say to fill 1 reservoir with water for the 1st 18 days & then fill both for the last bit. Is that close enough?

there is no risk in opening the incubator right now

I really like knowing when the internal pip happens. then I will know an approximate timeframe for when the pip should happen, and if it doesn't, then I know to be concerned. This comes from experience of having eggs pip internally but never externally. If I could save them then I would. I prefer candling for internals. everyone is different

well.... 0 out of 3 of the chicken eggs i had hatched it stinks that my first hatching experience turned out like this... good thing is the bobwhites look good they should be hatching thursday

I have an Instagram friend in England who only uses the mini Eco. She does not use a thermometer or a hygrometer. She fills one reservoir during incubation and both during lockdown. She has a 80-90% hatch rate. I think Brinsea is the way to go Good luck!
