I didn't write it... I just link to it because I think it's really good.

there is no risk in opening the incubator right now :)

I really like knowing when the internal pip happens. then I will know an approximate timeframe for when the pip should happen, and if it doesn't, then I know to be concerned. This comes from experience of having eggs pip internally but never externally. If I could save them then I would. I prefer candling for internals. everyone is different :)

Thanks for your input! I just candled all 12 again. I see movement and intact air cells in all 12. In about three eggs I see the chick sort of "bulging" into part of the air cell. It looks like they are really close to puncturing the membrane. I'm glad I candled again......at least I can get some sleep tonight :)

No action yet here. I've decided to keep hands off for this last bit, I don't want to risk stupidly dropping an egg.

In other news, my araucana eggs are on day 7 and it looks like 6/6 fertile, yay!

This hatching thing is addictive.

Spoke too soon. Had one last look before bed, and one of the Light Sussex eggs has pipped... At the wrong end! :barnie

Upped the humidity but I don't think I should do anything else to interfere at this stage... Will see how he is in the morning, hopefully he gets out okay :fl

Oh no! Hope everything turns out ok!! Keep me posted. Everything was quiet in my bator this morning. Day 20 starts at 8pm for me.

Ok, guys. First of all, we need pictures. I know some of those little buggars should have hatched by now.

Second, I have the Brinsea mini Eco. I've been running it for about a week. My eggs should arrive tomorrow. I will let them rest a day & set them on Thursday. With this little bator not having a humidity monitor, how do I know?

The directions say to fill 1 reservoir with water for the 1st 18 days & then fill both for the last bit. Is that close enough?

I bought the mini eco as well last weekend. I had it running for a couple of days with one chamber filled with water like in the manual. I had my walmart humidity meter in there as well. (found in the auto parts area, near the plastic buckets). It said 65-70%, way too high. Our humidity is high here so I had to take some water out to get it to 40-45%.

hi there... what day are you on?
it is unlikely that the chick is capable of zipping if it pipped at the wrong end, it is too malpositioned. what day?

Had six out of the first eight hatch between yesterday and today. Today is day twenty two how much longer should I give the last two to hatch
