Day 18.....Lockdown

2 more pips - the 2nd Australorp and another Sussex. Don't want to risk opening the bator to check on the malpositioned chick, hopefully it's okay.

Edit: Just saw it wiggle, malpositioned chick is still alive at least.

Excited for you Lyrika! All I have is one wiggling Welsummer egg and a bunch of nothing! Day 20 just started for me at 8pm. I am SO anxious! I'm hoping something hasn't gone terribly wrong :/

Don't worry, wiggling is good! Other than the malpositioned chick, I didn't see pips until a few hours into day 20. Then suddenly a few pipped all at once!

Awesome Frankie, hopefully the quail go well for you. My coturnix eggs don't seem to be doing much - I have them in a chinese container inside the incubator so they won't get knocked around by the chickens, so I can't see them very well. But no wiggling.

Here's a picture of my first chick out

He also managed to knock the egg with the malpositioned chick just slightly, enough that I can see that chick's beak moving. Here's hoping...

You should do some coturnix, they're so quick!
I want to get faverolles again... I'm pretty sure the faverolle eggs I have in the incubator now died a few days ago, but left them anyway just in case. They haven't budged.

Mine started at about 8 weeks I think, and they lay me an egg every day without fail. SLW are beautiful! I have 3 eggs incubating alongside Araucanas and a couple of GLW, on day 8 now.

Not much has changed in the bator... One of the Barred Rocks has pipped. The others have made no progress. Little Australorp is wandering around looking lonely.

I did open the bator quickly and grab the malpositioned egg. I wanted to moisten the membrane as I could see it drying up a little. The blood veins are shrinking and the chick is still chirping strongly. Rewrapped the egg in a damp paper towel, and managed to get it safely back in the incubator without the humidity dropping. Hopefully it'll be okay.

Any more action from the bobwhites?
