DAY 20 Power outage

Embryo still continues to develop if above 75 degrees F for a period of time.. people set eggs they collect all week in coolers between 60 to 65 degrees F and then let warm up to room temp before putting all eggs into incubator so they all hatch nearly within same day. So power going off is not nearly bad as getting too hot which will kill them off quickly. You should be fine..

it'll be hard to keep my babies hidden from the res authorities

How will you keep the ADULTS hidden???? Lol chicken poop, cluck, crow...do you have an outdoor area for them? You can't be thinking of keeping chickens in a dorm room?? I mean yeah, I hid my cat in my dorm room for two years lol but chickens?!?!
