Ideally, mature roosters do well on about 13% protein and 1% calcium. Only primary broiler and egg commercial producers who have their own mills and can produce their own feed can make exactly that because you can't buy that at a feed store. There are a couple ways to accomplish this. You can have a rooster feeder that is hung higher than hens can reach and perhaps even make hen feeders that roosters can't fit their heads into.That is all good information to know. Thanks for telling me. The rooster was rehomed so unfortunately even if I wanted to I can’t try to hatch chicks again since the eggs won’t be fertile. In the future if I get another rooster, what are you supposed to feed them?
