Day 20 ..

I am on day 20 and in lockdown .. i have a funky smell coming from the incubator but I have two hatched and four peeping . Do I open the incubator to find the smell or leave it alone? This is my first time for hatching from my own chickens.. unsure if it is safe to open my incubator during lockdown .

It is safe to open it, I’d probably find out what the smell is.

Thank u ... I found a smelly egg . All my eggs were extremely active the day I put them into lockdown .. but I guess I lost one somehow..

Some times the egg is a dud, but there is contents in the egg that slosh about mimicking movement in an egg. If an egg died and it is a couple days old dead you might not even have smell. An older dead egg will smell though.
