Thanks so much for the pics. I thought for sure they would be all yellow with a black spot on the head...guess that shows how much I know...I have 5 eggs under mt broody now so, hopefully, we can compare notes:)

All 3 finally hatched, I had to help the 3rd this morning, humidity is 55-58% and he was stuck, literally I had to peel the shell off him

The others hatched fine and one of my Phoenix was out this morning on Day 20 (the other is pipped)
Anyway, I moved the first 2 to the brooder they were picking up pieces of shell , I hope my other phoenix hatches today (I had to work) and I can move everyone else late tonight or tomorrow morning.
I went ahead and added a bit more water and it was about 62% when I left.

Hey Lockedhearts, I candled my eggs under my broody today. Three show nice veining and I can see a baby moving (we're on day 7) The other two I just see a dark yolk-like mass kinda stuck to one side (all my babies are stuck to one side too)

I compared the yolk-like ones with two refridgerated columbian eggs and they were different. The refrigerated eggs candled completely clear.

I think these may be two eggs that went under her the next day and maybe a little behind? I candled three days ago and only saw one with nice veining. The others looked almost like blood rings.

The two that aren't developing should still be on day 5 or 6.
Is this unusual?

Thanks, and Im so glad all three made it. You'll have to keep me updated with some pics here in a week or two.

I have seen that type of thing in shipped eggs, hmmm wonder if the hen knocked them about. I have never had a broody so not sure. I would leave them though and re-candled at day 10 or so and see, maybe they are late bloomers.

Lockhart, I opened the one that were candling clear and this is what I found. It looks like they started to develop and then quit. Do you know what causes that? or if you think that's what happened? I know the pic is small but this is what I got after cropping to get a closer look. see the white cloudiness in the yolks

I replaced them with a few more:) Now, Im going to have a staggered hatch and am going to need to get my bator cranked up and ready!

Honestly it looks like it might be going bad??????

All 3 babies are doing well, I was worried about the last one, he is a 1/3 smaller than the others and was really not moving around much, but he is better today, eating and drinking good.
