It seems worse when they are fully formed and then at the last minute die.

Just a thought on the broodies. When one of mine goes broody (rarely) I put her in a seperate place (large dog crate) with food and water. there she is left till she hatches the babys. Transferring at night is the best. But then there is the chance if you do transfer them they mey not settle in. Just a thought. Maybe your not set up for that. I just thought i would mention cause i saw the thread the other day saying the "kids" kept jumping in their nests. The eggs you sent me are 100% fert. That must be some roo you got.
