Day 22 and movement has stopped :o

Peck on the incubator window and listen very closely for chirping sounds.

Also, you can try shining a light directly on the egg, wave it back and forth. That sometimes causes them to chirp, or move, and you can hear or see some sign of life. Talk to them, sing to them! Find a video/audio of other chicks chirping and play it to them. Try to cause a reaction! It will not hurt to try, and it will make you smile super big if it happens! :)

I totally agree with this.

Kick yourself for opening the egg? Why
Oh, second guessing myself! Thinking "if only I had left her, she might have hatched in a couple more days". But, I'm pretty sure she worked to get out, and because of the membrane so stuck over her head, she couldn't pip.I do have 6+ Polish out for delivery today, and 12+ copper black Marans from same seller just mailed today, so this time will definitely watch my humidity better.

I watched mine but i think even tho I doubled checked my hydrometers before I placed the egg I think they failed so my humidity could have been lower then I thought ( I'm saying is now as my hubby wants to get more hatching eggs and I just checked the blasted thing and it's not even close to right). You did your best be proud of yourself you tried so no more kicking yourself chin up I'm sure you'll have better luck this time

Right so i have a quick question as tomorrow if still no movement etc i am going to try an assisted hatch, how will i be able to tell if the chick is dead or alive?

Normally if the are still alive if you gently roll a wet qtip over the membrane they will start to move be quick once you see them move tho as you want to get the beak out of the membrane and breathing.

Ok great, thank you as (hope it doesnt sound gruesome) but being my first time if not alive I would like to go all the way to look and see as a learning curve if anything but to also try and find out what could have caused it to die (if it has) so that i can learn from it and hopefully have better luck next time round

No totally get it I did mostly the same to except I did not need to go the whole 9 yards to know possible cause I guess I lucked out. I hope you get a lest one that does not have to be culled later. Had to do that yesterday and it sucked.
