We are well into day 22 with no pipping. One egge out of 6 was rocking yesterday but only a couple of times. I candled a couple this morning and there is movement. What do I do? I have read that some die if not assisted or we wait too long. Should I carefully put a small hole where the air sac is, not touching any veins?

I had this a few days ago. can you tell if they are malpositioned? Have they pipped internally? You can tell this through candling.

It's great that you can see movement, that means they're still alive. Can you hear chirping?

If they're moving or pipped internally, give them another 6hrs before assessing again. If you think they're malpositioned but still alive, try assisting.

Here is a really good thread on step by step assisting:

I'm only a newbie and my recent hatch was very sad, as they were all malpositioned, only one managed to pip despite being malpositioned. Had to help him out, but he's fine now (he's in my profile photo). The other 7 eggs that were with him didn't make it, even though they were full term, they just couldn't pip due to their malpositions and drowned in the egg 😢 I hope this doesn't happen to you.

Good luck :fl:jumpy

Only put a safety hole in the ones that have internally pipped. If you put a safety hole in ones that haven't internally pipped then you will shrink wrap the chick and it will die.
What is your humidity at? I'd put it between 60-65%.

I didn't know you could see pipping inside the egg. I'm new at this. I'll Google how to recognize that. Thank you!

No problem! If you do assist use coconut oil on the membrane to prevent shrink wrapping and when you put the egg back in the incubator also put a sterile wet cloth to bump the humidity back up quicker :jumpy :jumpy hope you have better luck than me :fl

The Little Giant hygrometers don't work. Do you have an additional thermometer/ hygrometer? If not you need to get one or two. Little Giants have hot and cold spots and they rarely read the right numbers for temperature too.

What should I do with these?

I had to completely modify my Little Giant to get it to work and now I'm hatching nearly 100%.

I took out the turner, and I mark the eggs D and N for day and night; I turn them twice a day at the same time. Like 8am and 8pm.
I put in a calibrated thermometer/hygrometer and go by that only; never by the machines readings.
I put in a separate plug in fan to keep the temperature consistent.
I put in a jar of water, that I keep full; I never use the channels to fill water in.

I just candled and these are the results. Only movement in one egg that I could see. One of them still had a lot of thick veins.
