So This is my first hatch in still air incubator. With 8 fertile eggs, we’ve had one hatch. One pipped malpositioned, and didn’t make it. 3 others never pipped, I checked and all were close to hatch but didn’t make it. I have two that are at day 23 and one at day 19 ( we collected at different times, next time I know to keep store them so I can put all eggs in incubator at same time). One of the 23 day old eggs I pipped into the air cell to see if alive still and it is. I followed recommendations to moisten with coconut oil and return to incubator. Humidity is around 75 and temp 99.5. Are these ok parameters? Should i do anything else? Chick is moving and still has veins showing on inner membrane. Please any help is appreciated, I don’t want to lose anymore. Thanks

Sounds like you are doing everything right. Give it time and keep an eye on it. Does it have an opening in the membrane for its beak to stick out. Can’t tell from the pic. Make sure it can breath. If blood vessels go away and chick doesn’t appear to be doing a eating motion with its beak you could remove a little more shell to allow it to push when ready.

I have not opened the inner membrane, I’m afraid I will hit a blood vessel. Should I find the beak and try to open around it or wait for vessels to dry up more.

Is that yolk?
It’s a yellow chick I think from Buff Orpington. I’ll check more for a beak/head. Should I take it out of incubator for this? I’m in Florida so I took it outside on clean table so humidity was high while opening egg. I still have two other eggs in incubator that haven’t pipped either.

Found his beak. Should I attempt to make hole in inner membrane so it can breath?

So it’s been about 4 hours since I opened a small hole in internal membrane and baby is still moving but beak hasn’t come through hole. Is it ok to just leave like that or should I make sure beak has pipped all the way out of inner membrane?
