Day 23 incubation Of call duck egg, can see black spots floating in egg and no movement, has previously been fine

I think it looks perfect honestly. If there are veins, even more so.
Can deffinetly still see veins and can also see air sac has got bigger and showing signs of small shadow inside which makes me think it’s preparing to internally hatch x

oh wow thanks that’s nice to hear, I noticed the black spots yesturday and still saw normal movement
I noticed more black spots today and struggled to see movement which is why I’m worried, I’m sure I did see a small movement after a while but I just put it back in incubator rather then keep messing with it.....I’ve spent two hours online looking for advice on what it can be, burst blood vessel, dead veins, dead embryo....there’s nothing I can find...I’ve spoke to two breeders who are also unsure so I’m glad someone has seen it before! Thanks for your help xx
You're welcome! Every mallard I've ever hatched (30+) all eggs have them on day 25. Consistently. And I have really good hatch rates. I think it shouod be fine. Put a mark on it so you know which one it is, a question mark or something, and update with what happens! It might really help out others.

so is it normal to have less movement towards the end of incubation?
I’ve had afew problems incubating
First batch of six only one survived the hatch
Second batch this is one of 6 again that took to incubation...and I’d be gutted if something happened now as it’s done so well
Only 2 more days til I can higher humidity and leave it alone
I just really want to see some movement in the mean time to confirm he’s deffo still alive
This egg is a silver call duck egg

Yeah, mine never move much in the last week. They're very still, and usually result in a ton of threads from nervous people on here, lol. Minimum to no movemrnt is totally normal. I would be super interested though, could you candle again and look for any movement? Especially along the air cell. If you're lucky sometimes you can see the back twitch right there.

I sure hope you're right, MGG. :fl It's always worth a go.:)
Me too. I always wondered if others had the same thing happen. I always candle everyday though, I think it really helps me understand what goes on in there and I can spot any duds right away. I have a super secure candlimg set up too, so no risk of dropping them.

I do too. I love watching them grow. :love

I will deffinetly candle again tomorrow evening as I want to know myself if I can spot any movement
I’m sure tonight (after looking for a good five minutes) I saw a slight twitch...which gave me abit of hope it’s still alive in there....but I’m still undecided so will have another go tomorrow
I tried to record it but we just can’t pick it up on camera...I’ve marked on the egg around the size of the air sac so I’m hoping I see slight growth in the sac which will confirm it’s still alive in there
And thank for all your help
This is a really handy site for people like myself who have no idea what we’re doing but giving it our best shot lol x
