Day 23 of hatching duck eggs

Thank you @CluckNDoodle, don't know why I had it in my head it was the point end!! All that effort making a hole one end just to turn away from it!!! ‍♀️
He's made 2 dents in the egg, would one of those be the start of the zipping process??

Are you able to take a picture without opening the incubator?

That's excellent. Sometimes they will make 2 or 3 pips before they start zipping. Its just getting into the proper position to rotate easily inside the shell. Don't be alarmed at multiple pips, they are normal and ok. They will rest in between. But once its starts zipping - meaning making a progressive pip line around the egg - it should finish within 60-90 minutes from when it started. But it can take 40 hours or more from the very first pip, before it starts to fully zip.

So eggggciting!!

Thank you @WVduckchick, 40 hours!!! oh my god!! That is so long. But I know he'll be worth the wait :love

yep! Even 48 isn’t uncommon. Usually they will come out in under 24 hours, but don’t be alarmed if they take longer. The slow pokes of the poultry world. Lol
But I agree, definitely worth the wait.

So while we wait....
I remember these were shipped eggs. Did you mention what breed?
They're runner ducks.
Henry was hatched at 11.15 tonight, assisted!! I'd chipped at his pips and he started wriggling, his beak poked out and he seemed to be pushing to get out. I put him back in the bator, and waited and watched for several hours. He kept push and pushing but nothing was happening. I loosened the shell, leaving the membrane, no blood vessels, and he started to push frantically, before I had a chance to put the egg back, he popped out in my hand!!! He's back in the bator, with the saddled egg, maybe he can encourage that one, but I think it's passed!! I will post photos in the morning. After all that excitement, I'm shattered but so very very happy. Love to all and thank you all for helping me :love
