Day 24: Opened. Alive. Put back in incubator. Now what?

The little guy didn't make it. He was balled up in a funny position, with his head ducked in and covered. His beak wasn't able to peck out of the shell. I'm not sorry that I tried to help it, but I'm still firm on never letting my Silkie try to hatch eggs again. My incubator beats the Silkie, no contest.

I'm sorry he didn't make it. It doesn't sound like he would have made it anyhow. I hope your next hatch is better.

Thanks kizanne. I wanted my Silkie to hatch a friend since she was lonely. The one chick she had a couple months ago is a rooster and will be leaving today. They love each other.

I'm going to have to try hatching bantams again and only use the incubator next time. I tried letting her take care of the chicks I hatched in the incubator and she wasn't nice. (Sigh. Difficult beast!). Thanks for everyone's help!

Nope. I think it was too weak today. Even when I opened it up (after it died) I still had difficulty finding the beak. I think it may have been backwards and then for some reason had its head tucked in the center.
