Day 29 Toulouse eggs...... when to add a safety hole...

On order from Amazon and should be here tomorrow :fl

I know I've left everything late but I wasn't counting my chickens before they hatched so to speak!

First time incubating goose eggs and they have been a whole new ball game compared to the hundreds of chicks I have hatched. Plus they started off in the not so good incubator as the Brinsea had the chicken eggs in for the Easter Hatch a Long. To be quite honest I was not expecting to get this far with them.
The opening to check for internal pip has driven me batty as I'm not one for interfering :barnie

Both have hatched unassisted :yesss:

I'm not sure these are Toulouse though? :idunno Will get a better pic when they are fluffy and in the brooder.

Thank you :D I'm over the moon with them :love

No I didn't see the parents I'm afraid :/ The farmer friend I got them from said he thought they were Toulouse but when I've spoken to him today he said they might be Embden (sp)? I'm totally confused now :idunno

He's going to have these back in a few days and I've got 6 more eggs to pick up from him so I will ask him if I can go round and actually see the parent birds.

Thank you

If they are Emden they are both females, My Embden gander had some grey on him but not that much and that dark. I say Toulouse my Toulouse gosling looked very much like them. Your not keeping them? surrogate incubator?

I'm afraid I'm not keeping them :( I just don't have the room right now and to be quite honest adult geese scare me to death! I'm keeping them for a few days until he is set up with his brooder etc. I am just a surrogate incubator  Suits me as I get my hatching fix

They are looking more yellow now

Well that's fun kind of like having grand kids you get the joy of having them around for a while and the joy of sending them home too.
