day-old chick with "curled feet" (last attempt before culling... )

I had a chick with curled toes...tried every method...no luck. He's 6 years old now and rules the roost. He gets around fine even though he's crippled. Good luck in whatever decision you make.

I have a one-month-old chick with curled toes. She did spend her first several days waddling around, but can run just about as fast as the other chicks and her feet don't seem to bother her in the least. They look terrible, but are functionally adequate!

Thanks so much for the support and success stories, dear BYC'ers - you've given me hope!

I'll update you tomorrow on how "Flipper" is doing and will post a photo.

She cannot walk on her own as her feet and ankles are curled and twisted backwards BUT with the splint I think it's helping - time will tell if it all holds together. I'm very lucky to have such a supportive DH who helps me nurse my babies back to health!

I'm curious also. Sometimes there is no choice but to cull but whatever the outcome, we're here to support you.
