Day one on the road to becoming smoke free.

Congratulations! The first 24 hours is a HUGE accomplishment

Yes. Cigarette smoke contains hundreds of carcinogens. The electronic thing has none. Nicotine is a stimulant. These electronic things have the same amount of carcinogens as a patch, losenge, gum because all nicotine has to be extracted from tobacco. But all have scant amounts that can barely be measured.
Some people like me have more trouble giving up the hand-to-mouth smoking. These work well for those.

I've been quietly following this thread, reading all of your daily updates. I just want to say a big congratulations for everything you've done!

My hubby & I have been using e-cigs for 5 days now and no cigarettes. This is a major accomplishment for me as I have smoked a pack a day+ for more than 40 years. The e-cigs are really helping. I bought them because I wanted to have a substitute for when I couldn't smoke. I really hadn't planned on quitting entirely, it just kind of happened. I am very pleased with the e-cigs. Beside the physical nicotine addiction (& yes I am addicted), I like having the e-cig to handle - the hand/mouth thing.

I did check out e-cigarette forum & there is a lot of good info there, even about quitting smoking without using e-cigs. For me, the e-cigs are perfect. And tomorrow will be day six. I keep thinking of the $$$'s we're saving as between the 2 of us, we were smoking 2 1/2 packs a day. 2.5 packs X $4.30=$10.90 @ day X 5=$54.50 so far - wow!!!. The e-cig cartridges are much, much cheaper. (And agreed on the taxation of cigarettes. The gov't hasn't started taxing e-cigs yet.)

Anyway, I anticipate that at some point I will probably not be using e-cigs as much if at all. I am thankful that I found out about them.

Go get 'em Brandin!!!!

Good for you! I still use them and I dont think about the day I wont use them. But it seems lately that my battery lasts longer and longer-so I must be using it less. Quitting is hard. I am very proud of myself and all.
