Day two and three dead, how long does Sulmet take to bloody work???

put powdered milk in their feed (lots of it) it will help coat the intestines and sooth the sores inside it may help a bit. Often if you are not acustom to cocci by the time it is diagnoced and treated many are too far gone. So sorry.

No adults and juveniles have usually built up a tolerance. Personally i use Amprol as it is easier on the birds and more natural.

Cocci usually affects chicks under 17 weeks of age, so your POL of lay could still potentially get it....Just keep those chicks separated from them. Cocci breeds in a warm, wet environment, so if you've got hot, humid weather, and lots of rain....Chances are, that's why they got it......

Good luck to you! Glad you're getting the Corid. I believe it cost around $18.00 per packet......Goes a long way....

Good point- Amprol is just another name for Amprolium, which is the same as Corid.

Yes, that's it. You'll want the 20% soluable or the 9.6% oral solution...it appears that the 16oz bottle is out of stock. Dosage for the 20% soluable powder is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water. Mix the corid daily with fresh drinking water for 5 consecutive days.
ETA: If you locate the 16oz bottle of 9.6% oral solution, Dosage is; 5cc per gallon of water for 5 days.

Well, the 20% soluable is on its way to me. The Blue Silkie is still alive and actually looks pretty good (concidering I had written it off as a dead chick

) and we havnt lost any more today but I really hope the Corid gets here quick!

New question! The two sickest chicks are still alive (as are the rest so far) and their poops were looking really good but today they are redish brown and runny again. The Corid should get here tomorrow but why are they runny again if hte Sulmet hasnt even finished its course? There is still tomorrow to go with it.
