Hi I am new at raising chickens. I have 4 silkie hens,1 silkie rooster Also I was given 6 silkie chicks which are about 2 months old. I still have the young ones in a couple of cages. When can I put them in with the others or can I.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! It is usually best to wait until the younger chicks are about the same size as the older ones, and then introduce them gradually, a period of time separated by wire usually works well, ie if you can separate your coop/run or put the younger chicks with their cages inside. That gives them time to get used to each other and kind of establish a pecking order. There is a good article in the Learning Center on combining flocks https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock You might like to check out the BYC Learning Center, lots of good articles on all aspects of chicken keeping in general you might find helpful. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Welcome to BYC!

Kelsie has you on a good path to mixing in your new birds. Just take your time, keep them separated but within the flock for a few weeks, and all should go well. However always intervene it if turns bloody.

Enjoy your new birds and welcome to our flock!

thank you for the good advice I will read that on the learning center. Also thank you for all of you inviting me to BCY
