I'm in the "hate it" camp. I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks that has 7:30 to 5:30 hours, which means I'll leave home before sunrise and won't get back until after dark. So whether I feed and water the girls in the morning or the afternoon, it'll be by flashlight, and in the cold.
I looked outside awhile ago and saw that dusk was coming down, though the day still felt young to me. I dashed out to let the hens out for their free range time, and before I had their feeder refilled, waterer checked, treats distributed, they had all returned to their chicken yard, filed up their ladder, and put themselves to bed for the night, and they'd only been out about thirty minutes! Yikes! We are going to have to start evening routines by four or four-thirty, I think. I confess, I'd like to keep DST all year long. I hate to see the early onset of dark in the winter, makes me feel like I have SAD! Bah Humbug, and here's to the coming of Spring ~G

I don't know about that... Like I said, there's not much you can do about the short days of winter, but keeping DST permanently would mean that sunrise would be as late as 8:45 AM around here. I think I'd prefer the daylight in the morning.
I want my sunlight in the morning - where it belongs. Those of you who think you get an 'extra hour' because of DST just sleep through and lose a nice morning hour of sunlight! I hate DST, I wish they'd do away with it completely.
Prior to 1883 when the railroads adopted a standardized time the keeping of time was up to who ever set the clock you used. The US government officially adopted standardized time in 1933.
