and he was loved and cared for, for the time he had. . that's more than a lot of animals get in their lifetime.

Don't be ashamed for being upset either. My husband had to put one of ours down recently and it tore him up. He's a big tough guy like you.
He told me he I had better not ever tell his buddies he cried over a duck

I am so sorry. Bless his heart he sure hung on a long time. I don’t know absolutely but I have a feeling both Bert and his sis came to you with something wrong which we’ll never know what. I hope your all okay with losing him you def did the right thing by him. It’s okay to be sad and heart broken he was your buddy.
