Dduell2's Chicken Journey

So they are about 4.5 weeks old now. The coop is complete and habitable. They spent their first night in there last night. They did great! They definitely had to be handed from one person to another into the hen house last night. Let's see how fast they catch on themselves.

I will be updating the DIY Chicken Coop thread very soon, I'm way behind!

I can't tell from your photos, do you have some type of a barrier so predators can't dig under the run?
Yes the hardware cloth is buried about 6 inches deep (maybe deeper in places) and even curled in some places. The ground is very hard and there are a lot of tree roots around as well

When I get a chance to sit down and update the build thread it will be more clear.

I have pics of the trench I dug before burying it

We have tons of roots, too, so I made an apron of hardware cloth. It lays flat on the ground 18"-24" away from the run base. So far it's working.
Awesome!! I dug my trench the depth of a shovel head as far around as I could and aproned the hardware cloth as much as needed where it couldn't be so deep.
Its probably roughly just over 3 ft from the top of the bottom section of hardware cloth to the bottom the frame of the run. Then whatever is left of the 4ft roll is buried
