Yes the hardware cloth is buried about 6 inches deep (maybe deeper in places) and even curled in some places. The ground is very hard and there are a lot of tree roots around as wellI can't tell from your photos, do you have some type of a barrier so predators can't dig under the run?

I dug my trench the depth of a shovel head as far around as I could and aproned the hardware cloth as much as needed where it couldn't be so deep.We have tons of roots, too, so I made an apron of hardware cloth. It lays flat on the ground 18"-24" away from the run base. So far it's working.
