Dead chick with scabby sore?

1 of the new chicks that we got on Saturday. This morning has an infected butt. Ive washed him down and put some ointment on it. Im going to isolate him from the rest.
Omg.

I'm so sorry!

Can you post some photos of this one - the chick, the infected butt, etc.?

Are they still in the same brooder?
If they were mine, I would switch brooders just to rule out environmental causes of infection. They are still tiny, so a large tote or go to the grocery and ask for large toilet paper boxes and tape those together to make a big area. Line the brooder with puppy pads. Secure your lamp very well and have only one warm spot in the brooder. OR you can make a Mama Heating Pad system https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...er-picture-heavy-update.956958/#post-14882145 That is what I use and it works great.

The other chicks are in good health. But I have put the infected chicken in a box away from the others and cleaned the others brooder.

Ill have to go grab puppy pads tomorrow. Nothing open close by at the moment.
