Yep you guessed it, one of my hens died today. about a week ago i had an injured chicken(different chicken) and brought her inside and found her having worms. so i dewormed her and the others. then a week later (today) I went outside and one of my other chickens was flapping and rolling on the ground, i picked her up and her crop was full of liquid, her butt was swollen up really big with liquid and she stopped moving and died.. so i did an autopsy, a really foul smelling brown liquid filled her entire body cavity. there was no cuts in her digestive track the rest of her organs seem alright, i did not find any worms in her. and her gizzard seems to be empty. I don't understand what this brown fluid was it was light brown and consistency of water.. other than that she seemed fine until today. anyone know what the brown liquid could have been?

Wow. I have never heard or seen that before. Maybe it had something to do with internal bleeding I am not sure. Did she maybe have a drastic change in diet or anything that could provoke stress to her? I am sorry I am not much help but I definitely want to find out the outcome of this situation. Sorry for your loss

There was no change in feed. She has always been really energetic and smaller than my other birds I thought maybe her gall bladder had ruptured because the smell but it was intact, everything looks normal. maybe acites?

The site I found was talking about sour crop. I am not so familiar with that but it sounded quite similar to what was occurring with your bird.

I am not quite sure. Is there a vet close to you? It might be worth getting it checked out there. It might be a cancerous thing as well. Sorry I wasn’t much help but keep us posted if you find out what was happening.
