I had this Cayuga duck who was about 2-3 years old who was attacked by a possum. The rest of my birds are safe in a different little house. I have one duck and two chickens now. Should I get another duck for mine?

Sorry to hear about your Cayuga. It is best if you can get another duck, preferably another adult female duck. If you have the room, getting two more ducks is even better in case one dies, then you still have two. If you can't find any adult ducks in your area, you will need to get two ducklings, since you can't put them together till the ducklings are grown up.

Thanks for the replies I’ll work on getting her a friend or two. I didn’t know possums were so vicious. What should I do about the possum?

In the run while I was at work. They’ve never had problems. The possum is right back in there. I think my duck was vulnerable because the others were away.

You need to find out how it got in. And then patch any holes to prevent it from getting back in. He will return to get your other duck or chickens or could steal eggs.

The door was open. I can home late. It was my fault. Recently it hasn’t been a problem but in the future I want to be more careful

Recently had a possum kill one of my ducks. Sorry to hear of the loss.
The only way to prevent it from coming back was to get rid of it.
