Hi,
Today we lost a young hen, (around 26 weeks old). Bird was fine yesterday and when it went up on the roost last night. This morning she did not want to come down from the roost. Would not eat or drink. We isolated her. Within 3 hours she was dead!

Yesterday we had a very bloody egg in the nest box. (Not the normal little streak, but the whole front half of the egg was bloody. (I do not know who laid it?)

The sick bird was panting, comb was pale. No wheezing or anything.
OK the autopsy:
Some yellowish fluid oozed out the vent. No shells or no egg in the ovaduct. Crop had some grains in it nothing odd. Gizzard had nothing odd in it just husks from grains. Intestine looked OK no parasite, a fair amount of fat around the gizzard, and the back end.
Liver had a little area of yellowish on the surface, when cut it was dark red.

No obvious blood clots or anything?

Other wise, nothing else has changed in diet or conditions. I inspected droppings on the poop board, all were firm and dark (Normal)

Help? Liver disease? (But she died so fast, and was healthy looking yesterday.) Broken soft egg in the ovaduct?

Help please..
