Just went out to pick eggs and found one of my EEs (unknown age, I've had her for 2 or 3 years and I got her as an adult from a friend) laying dead under the nest boxes. No external injuries so I'm sure it wasn't a predator. The skin under her vent was black, and she was already smelling of decay so I think there may have been some internal problem with her. I do know that last week, when I went to pick eggs she jumped out of the nest box and there was a shell-less broken egg in there. I thought maybe she'd broken it or was eating it, but now I wonder if she had a problem with her egg-producing mechanics. Anyone else have something similar happen?
