Deadliest Catch Fans?

My kids love this show, also Survivor Man, Man vs. Wild, Dirtiest Jobs, and Myth Busters. They should just rename the channel "Testosterone TV" and be done with it or perhaps "Really Bad Ideas to Fascinate Small Boys TV" That being said, I enjoy most of these shows, but I grew up in a fishing town and Deadliest Catch kinda bothers me because I don't need to be reminded how dangerous fishing/crabbing is.

(not trying to start a debate, I'm just sayin'.)
I get seasick just watching the show, but those boys put up with a LOT. I will pay anything for fresh King crab... it's worth it.

I got to see the Time Bandit in the Homer Harbor a couple of years back.

Oh boy! I'm so glad to know I'm not the only fan-atic of this show here. Yep - love Sig, Edgar, and Andy - not so sure about Jonathan at times, he is a wild, wild, man. Worried a lot about Phil.

I finally figured out why I am so addicted to this show.....I would never in a million years want to do the jobs they do, so I HAVE to watch them as payment for my wimpness! I even watch the re-runs over and over and over...... Great reality tv!

Oh, and Miss P... the episode where Jon and Andy and the crew saluted their dad... bawled my eyes out here...

April sounds about right. You all have to rememer that crab fishing here runs from October through about Febraury or March, then they have to put the footage together.

I'll second that comment! You only have to stand at a fishermen's memorial one time (it's an annual event at our Crab Festival), hearing the list of names read out loud of people lost to the ocean that year, to understand how deadly this business really is.

I live right in the middle of this world. The Cornelia Marie docks in our harbor in the summer and I've seen Captain Phil at Wal-Mart. We lose people, members of the Kodiak community, every year to the ocean. These guys, and the Coast Guard rescue swimmers, have my utmost respect. The Big Valley, the boat that went down in the 1st or 2nd season, was from Kodiak, the captain, Gary Edwards, a local man. His memorial service had to be held at the high school gymnasium and it was packed.

I will always be a fan of Deadliest Catch, simply out of respect for these guys.
