I share everyone else's sentiment and am really sorry about your little chicks. I'm glad you told the story though because like you I also am very careful but have had my chicks for a couple days now and have been meaning to zip tie my light on to the mic stand I'm using as extra security and just hadn't gotten around to it yet... so off I go to do that this minute. I'm really thankful your house was OK and nothing else burned, and all the best to you and your new little chicks.
