Dear Ralphie's Relationship advice............

Dear Ralphie,

How do I convince/motivate my husband to help me build a larger fenced run for my flock? At some point in history he said he would, but it's been at least a year, and still no fence even though I already purchased the needed materials.

Thanks!

With all the duties a husband has a year is hardly any time at all. Please consider thinking in the term of decades....or do it yourself...

BTW I have found my wife can do a lot of things she never thought she could by simply putting her request on the back burner...Maybe he is trying to help you to become more aware of what you can do for yourself...

Make the new fence yourself..and buy him a beer, bring him his slippers and a bowl of ice cream for caring enough to help you grow as a person.....

edited to add...Or try bribery...

If he has a hunting or fishing trip coming up....tell him you need the run before he can go.......

Hmm... now you've got me thinking if I just start doing it myself he might even come outside to show me how to do it "the right way." :lau

Oh the "poor Lil me" trick,,,I fell for that the first 30 years or so of our marriage..Then I got smart and got a nice lawn chair so I could relax as I gave her advice on how to do it right...

I suggest you learn to drive the bobcat also,,My wife has refused to learn, which would have saved her hours of digging with a post hole digger or shovel.......She has said she will learn this year...BUT she also said that the last 8 years...

That method has a 90% success rate, especially if it involves power tools and is done where he can see it from a window.

Oh, man, this is exactly where my husband would not be able to refrain from jumping in, the digging, he works in excavation and is an equipment operator, so I'm sure however I start digging, and whichever tool I use, I won't be doing it the best way :lau though I did learn a thing or two building the existing runs.

And it will all be visible from the living room window!
