It really is best to keep your rooster separate. He only needs a couple days to get everyone bred when you want to hatch. Keeping him separate will keep him keen to breed everything in sight, plus they won't get their feathers worn down from being bred all the time, and roosters are less likely to fight with you if they don't have ladies around. Can be a bit of a space/logistical problem though.
