I love the no draft design. I just need a model for 50 chicks at a time.....I couldn't agree more! Hubby knows this is no "fad" it's a fricking addiction! He did not want me to resort to his cardboard box brooder for these new ones, so is almost done building another one identical to the first. He asked if I'd like any modifications done. Nope, I love it!

Here's a link to the brooder that shows more and has dimensions. I asked hubby and he said you'd not want to make it more than 6" deeper as then you'd have issues reaching in, but could go a few feet wider. He built it tall inside to enclose the heat lamp and ran power into it. I honestly can't think of any way to improve upon it.I love the no draft design. That's a good idea to hang their water. They had hanging water bottles but we switched them to horizontal nipples. I'm going to see if hubby can suspend that though to give them more room. It's too low now anyway as it is as they have to bend over to drink so he's either got to raise it or hang it.I like the brooder a lot. Mine is a 4'x8' with 12" sides and a fish net top. Hanging feeder and water. Cutting it down to 32" wide so we can reach across to catch any we need to for pasty butt and such. It sets on top of a banquet table so we no longer have to bend down to floor level. One thing I am going to change is to round the corners so there are no sharp 90° corners for any of the chicks to get crushed in.
