Yes they get along fine in the bantam pen. I'm going to set them up with their own pen. I don't want to free range them with the kinked toe they all have.
Is it too late to try a cardboard boot thing to try fix the toes? A couple of hatches ago we had one chick seem to want to curl its toes on one foot, so my hubby did it by taping its foot to a little piece of cardboard. It kept getting it off, but he kept revising his method and putting it back on. Finally, with the same little piece of cardboard and a copious amount of vet wrap, it stayed on overnight. The next day, it was walking normally. I know yours are older but maybe something would still work for them?

From what I can tell, there are 8 left to hatch of 19 eggs. The 3 oddballs are part of the 8. Today is Day 21.

No pips on any but it's a little steamy in there right now so I can't see well.

They tipped my camera over yesterday so I'm going to have to come up with a little stand for it.

Sometimes we just don't ask about what's going on in ponypoor's coop...

6 of 19 left to hatch. 3 are the air cell issues, 1 I had put a question mark on that's probably a dud.

That leaves 2 "normal" eggs I'll give until later this afternoon or tonight. I see zero pips on any of these.

Then, I'll tag @MGG and let the surgery begin! -- Unless anyone thinks I should do it sooner? I'm just lagging because this was their hatch day so none are technically late yet.

Usually it has to be done in the first week before the bones are fully hardened. Unfortunately I don't think it would work at this point. I have a few with crooked toes as well.

Have you tried candling to check for veins on the screwy ones? Presence (or lack thereof) of veins will be your guide on when to assist.

I'll go try candle them now. I can do it discreetly. :old 🤣 I'll be attacked by over a dozen chicks lol.

@Ponypoor do tell! Do you practice with them? I sing and do Zumba dancing to my eggs, but that's as far as I go. 🤣

Well I am teaching my silkies all sorts of new words lately - I have my friend silkie Roo over keeping my silkie ladies company. He is a little terror - Teddy the Terror. He attacks me every chance he gets, bits hard, when he gets hold of my slack he is like a little terrier dog pulling on the leg hem and won’t let go!

My girls have been hating him, until the past few days. My Polish Roo is very gentle and quiet, he doesn’t attack me - he isn’t friendly but he stays away from me. He is respectful of the ladies - if they say no he walks away - he has never forced a hen at all.

Teddy is a brat, grabs the hens and jumps on them, half the time he falls off 🤭🤭🤭 the girls give him the stink eye….

But he is a cute little devil.

Don’t ask me what colour he is, all I know is he is named Teddy 😁
