So are you going to breed her to a buff eventually? It will be neat to find out if she's dominant white! Those are hard to come by! I can't imagine if she is, putting her with a paint rooster and getting paints though. That'd be weird lol.

I won't have a buff rooster by the time she's breedable, as she is about 2 months ahead of the buff batch. So are you going to breed her to a buff eventually?
Sounds like a great plan. I look forward to the outcome!I won't have a buff rooster by the time she's breedable, as she is about 2 months ahead of the buff batch.
I think to test this though, I'll put her with a black rooster. If she's a red pyle and dominant white, then technically, they'd make 100% paints with red spots. I can't even imagine this. The black male rooster carries chocolate, so not sure if that gene can do anything.
After a couple of months, I'd know what we got. Assuming she's not going to be a red pyle, I can then put her with a buff rooster, and we'll hopefully get buffs.
This is exciting!!!!!! That is going to be an awesome coop! The Amish dude called. Our new coop arrives tomorrow!
I might be repeating myself, but it's a 12x20' shed (same as the other one), insulated on the bottom, human door with window on one side, big window to hold an air conditioner, if ever needed, on the other. It will be divided into 4 pens with a 5'x5' "coop" for each pen, and a 5'x10' run coming from each pen. The pens will be 6' tall. All sides and roof will be covered with 1/2" hardware cloth. Hubby's burying a 2"x10" around the edge of each pen to attach the hwc to, then large rocks to put around the perimeter. We're getting a dusk to dawn light like we have on our pole in our yard to put on the rear of the other shed/coop. (I'm very worried about predators back there.)
Hubby thinks he'll need a month to build the coops and runs. He's sheet rocking the whole interior.
We'll be putting one of the two brooders from our living room out there too. He's running electricity to it and there'll be a few outlets in there.
Takes lots of pictures! The Amish dude called. Our new coop arrives tomorrow!

I had a nice buff once upon a time. When I started wanting to get into breeding higher quality silkies, I sought after getting some buffs. I wasn't so lucky in all those eggs I bought, but here's what I've got.
This is Carol (Burnette). She's a buff cuckoo frizzle, 7 mos old.

Peachy is an anomaly. I hatched a half dozen white silkie eggs I purchased off eBay along with my own eggs, and she was hatched. I have no breedable buffs, and the seller says she has no buffs. If she's not a buff, I'm not sure what she is or how she was created. She is one of the 11 that are three months old. The others in that same batch are 2 white ones that remain of the 6 of those that hatched (sold the rest), and the rest are from my chickens: CC the splash, 1 chocolate, a black, 2 blue, and a few mauves.

But even if Peachy is a buff, she's a pullet for sure, so I still need a buff rooster. I'll eventually breed her with one and we'll see then what we get.
I'm sure there's at least one rooster in this bunch! They are just six weeks old. They live in this screen tent makeshift grow-out pen for another week until we can get them to the aviary. Three are NN's, so I'll probably part with them.
