Our power bill for this month is $40.00

I overpaid last month.

Our power bill has NEVER been this low.

I am keeping ahead, too. That is a great way to prevent shock.

I always pay at least $100 a month if I can. After the bill I just got I still have a $150 credit.

Wow ............ and I was happy with my $179.00 Electric bill. We also use some propane and have gone through about 30 gallons
during the colder days/nights. so about $72 on propane since this cold season started.

$50, $100, $179 holy shnikey let's talk about over $500. When my hubby said five hundred and I was in such shock I don't even remember what the and amount was. Now we only have electric-no gas so I know it's going to be higher but this is insane. I'm going to make sure that next time we make the grocery list we get more crock pot meals.

Our electric bill drops significantly in the winter. But in the summer-oh boy! It jumps to about $350 or more. Even with the A/C, our house is an oven, and we usually leave in late afternoon to escape it. Something is very wrong, but we don't know what.

O.K., you'll all die when I tell you our electric bill is $650-$900 per month (depending on season) and our propane bill (for heat) is $300 per week. So, in freezing winter weather like we're having now, our total bill is $2,000 per month.

We bought a 100 year old home and of course, no insulation and raised 4 1/2 feet off the ground with 14 foot ceilings. It was 40 degrees in the front parlors this morning and that's with the electric central heater going, set at 82, running up a huge electric bill. We did buy a pellet stove fireplace insert last year and it is helping a lot but can only heat the den where it is installed but it cuts down tremendously on propane that would have had to be used to heat the same room. By next winter we plan on having wood heaters that can be cooked on and possibly another fireplace insert for elsewhere in the house. There are 9 fireplaces and they only serve to let heat out of the rooms.

Ours usually runs about $500 in December. We have a propane insert in our fireplace that we use too but the propane company jacks their prices way up so it's almost cheaper to use electric heat.

Does anyone use residential wind turbines? We've been looking into that....

Everytime I see it, it makes me wish we had money to put solar panels up. Or even a wind thingy, geez.
