Not sure what your weather is there but what temps have you brooded outside with the MHP? I did it with my April chicks but we had stuff going on so they were inside until the end of April I think. I am trying to decide when to hatch next year. Hoping to hatch that any I keep start laying before the shorter days kick in..

Did your April chicks not start laying before the shorter days this year?

Did your April chicks not start laying before the shorter days this year?

This year I had 1 hold out on laying. My CCL was showing signs of being ready then just stopped showing signs comb lightened up and no eggs still. Last year I had I think 3 that didn't start until Feb/March... A light Brahma and 2 Cochins. The slackers. Lol

Ok so I have 4 eggs on day 18 ( started about now). And 1 on day 16. The air cells seemed a bit small yesterday so I took out some water to try to bring the humidity down some. 2 of the air cells drew back a good bit today. 1 a little bit and 1 didn't change at all. The day 16 egg didn't change a ton. I will post pics. The last egg is the day 16.

The top of the egg (where air cells is dipping back) shows space after air cell but bottom of the egg is solid dark

I am not sure when to up the humidity for hatch. Should I do it now or wait???
