December 2022 hatch-a-long

I am waiting for my rooster to do his deed. He is 5 months old in Dec. and I may set his brood eggs by New years hatch. Not that I am crazy about his breed he is just a white rock. But I do have a few hens that are laying now, and they don't always. I have to strike while the iron is hot.

The hens are
Frizzle/NN
Frizzle
NN
Blue feathered EE

And anything else I think might look cool.

My current shipped eggs (14) are past the first trimester! day 7/8

So I've made my culls for my shipped-eggs batch - five out of 16 developing, with a sixth egg I'm keeping for a few more days because I see veining, but no embryo. It's a dark egg though, so I don't mind waiting a few more days.

I'm definitely putting in a damage claim with USPS though....

I also put this week's lay from my blue/splash pen into the incubator today, so there's five more.....

Checked today at days 5&7 think only 5 developing. Kept a couple that I am pretty sure are clears but a bit harder to see.

The guy I am hatching them for asked if I would try again after this group so will be able to do it again. 🥰

My eggs are almost 1/2 way through the development...
Just candled, still 14 in incubator. One still has veins, but looks like I will have to remove. It was the only hedemora egg I had. :hit

The blue x h is the hedemora egg. I will yank tomorrow.
The pink circle was not fertile.
