Love Marans and silkies! What kind of Marans do you have? Welcome to the hatching party!

The parents are Splash Copper over Black Copper and Blue Copper so I'll get Blue Copper and Splash Copper chicks
I also have Dark Cuckoo Marans but they aren't laying yet

Our Muscovies currently have 9 eggs set under Miss "Jelly", Mr "Pogo" doesn't spend time with his lady unless shes our for her daily break... its our first time hatching duck eggs (with the exception of 1 who hatched a week ago under a chook)

We are expecting little ducklings Dec 3-4th

But I will be candling them

I have been trying to decide where to post about my button quail eggs that I'm setting but figured I will post here since hatch day will be so close (end of Nov/start of Dec)

!! Sorry for the photo spam !!

So, today is Day 14 of Jelly's incubation of 9 Muscovy Eggs ~ I candled all of them and all but 1 appear to have developed (there was no distinction blood spot, so I'd say it was never fertile). I didn't get photos of everyone as mum wasn't far off and was hissing and squeaking

Not the greatest photos as its daytime, and I don't have anyway to make it darker to see currently.

Definitely excited to watch them continue to grow - Movement in all except #5.

Great candling photos! Agree #5 probably wasn’t fertile.

we plan to set eggs in dec for a jan 1st hatch.... now if I accidently continue to put quail eggs in the incubator in the mean time we will be hatching quail in dec.... huh might be fun???
we are expecting our second batch of quail from our homegrown eggs this weekend.... not sure if its sat or sun?? I forgot to write anything on the eggs???

OK! Just set a dozen eggs from my three egg layers. Like to set on Fridays if I can so that I have the weekend to fuss with new babies! I have room for two more in the incubator so I will add these tomorrow. Marked each one, weighed it and checked the air cells. I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to these things! So nice to see these gorgeous air cells. I’m so used to getting shipped eggs where the air cells are jiggling and have to be coddled and have to be hatched upright and have to turned by hand. So refreshing to just throw the eggs in the incubator and let the auto turner do its job and pretty much forget about them until it’s time to candle them again!
