December Hatch-A-Long 2014

I came home to the power off today! got the generator plugged in and temps back up so hopefully they are ok. I just can't win this time around lol
I had a power outage to my bator a few days ago. By the time I noticed the temp was down to 78 or 79. All my eggs survived it and are doing just fine so there's definitely hope! It's the 2nd or 3rd time it's happened in the last month or two. It's the temp spikes that are way too high that seem to have more of an effect. Crossing my fingers for you anyway though. I hope all is okay!

Oh my gosh, that's horrible. I hope everything is ok with your little eggs!

Ok so I couldn't resist, I had to take a peak for some piece of mind that I was doing things ok. So when I went to rotate my eggs for the final time today I had my hubby help me candle our 2 lightest colored eggs. I had planned to only do 1 but I had to check out 2 so I had a reference of what they should be looking like. The first one appeared to have a spot that looked like that may be where the veining will start from but it didn't appear to have an air pocket (I'm at a lose for words right now for some reason, hope that's what it's called.) Anyway that is why I pulled out the second egg. The 2nd one definitely had an air pocket and it had the same spot in it that looks like where the veining may start. I'm only on day 2 so I figure that's probably about all I will see at this point but for now that's enough to assure me that maybe I might be doing things correctly.

Anyway, I am so excited and I can't wait for my real candling date on Saturday. Hopefully with all my homework and with Thursday being Thanksgiving and then there's Black Friday shopping I will be super busy and won't get impatient about candling again!

I always find time to get the candling itch LOL I hope you have more luck

Oh no. I do hope their okay.

Turned all the eggs today. Yesterday, I noticed one if the eggs had a crack that wasn't leaking. I patched it with clear nail polish. I will have to see if it's developing in a few days, don't want it to go rotten and explode.

Awesome!!! I finally found the December one!!!!

No one made one for a while and I was kinda waiting for someone with my experience than me to make one but no one did so I decided to. What do you have incubating and when is your hatch date? Can't wait to hear about your progress.

Hope everyone's incubating is going well. I really thought I would be super stressed about this because I seriously worry about EVERYTHING but as the days go on I am feeling alright about it. I figure I can control what I have control over... temp and humidity, turning the eggs, and washing my hands before touching but other than that I really just gotta let nature handle the rest. I am sure as hatch day gets closer I will get a little crazy but for now I am sitting back and letting the incubator do it's job!!

Hello. I put 20 ancona duck eggs in the incubator on the 21st. My incubator likes to drop to 97ish at night, so I'm thinking we may have slow progress but hoping for the best!

welcome. Good luck. How long do duck eggs incubate for?

All 21 of the eggs I set got fried. My DD attempted to adjust the temp (instead of covering/uncovering the windows) and the temp was up to 110!!! I opened a couple of them and all of them were at day 7 development, which is where they should have been

We went from being in the 20's during the night to the upper 40's. Since we only heat our home with a wood burning stove and I have a still air incubator getting the temp stable is a struggle BUT I did have it perfect as long as you don't touch the thermostat.

Thankfully I'm still getting six eggs a day from my girls so I have about 15 to put back in the incubator.
