Today is hatch day for incubator one. Still no pips or wiggling eggs or anything

.? How long after you say goodbye to rooster are the eggs fertile? We had to say goodbye to our rooster because he started to attack me and grandkids two weeks ago could my hens eggs still be fertile?

If you have any to spare, I would crack one open and just peek and see if the characteristic bullseye of a fertile egg is present on the yolk! That is the easiest way to know for sure, I've heard of sperm retention lasting over 6 weeks in chickens but that doesn't seem to be the norm, the person who told me seemed surprised. You could always just set eggs and see what develops! However, if your rooster was aggressive, I wouldn't want to hatch his babies. That kind of aggression toward people is usually genetic, and if it is something you don't want in your birds then his genes are the last you want to hatch and raise. Maybe wait awhile, give your gals a nice new boy toy who behaves himself around his people once you stop seeing bullseyes on your egg yolks.

Mine were fertile for three weeks. But it depends on the hen/rooster.

Maybe I should wait for a buff Orpington rooster. I did get six eggs to hatch from ebay maybe I should just hatch them.

My rooster has been out of commission for the last three weeks. Our eggs were fertile on Monday when I checked them. Unfortunately we had to put him down yesterday. Fortunately we have some little chicks from him so we can keep the best one for his replacement. I think three weeks is a good time frame to still be fertile.

nope not even a pip. I am HOPING maybe its just delayed...I don't know. I may sneak another one and candle again. It's about to drive me crazy

Glad to see someone else is doing the same thing! We are going to do our first ever incubation in about 10 days - 150 Delaware chicks for an order! Yikes!! Hope all goes well and our hens and rooster did their job!
