I went into Trader Joe's in Wayne PA and they told me they've never sold fertilized eggs. I guess some stores don't.

Yes, I've heard that too. Don't they mark them..as fertile if they are?

Thing about that is Trader joes eggs are organic, caged free, free range chickens that run with roosters so in reality all of them should be fertile. Atleast thats what i got out of it.

Well, I think you just gave me an idea! I have kids that live in a closer area with a Trader Joes! Maybe they can go pick me up some for the NYD hatch a long! No flying a long distance. Oh yeah. Gotta go..get hold of my son. :)

    Hi from SE PA,

Can I join the December hatch-a-long?

I've been figuring out DIY incubating and have tried 2 batches of GIANT supermarket "fertile" eggs. Nothing became of them on the day 7 candling, but the process has helped me to refine and tweak our styrofoam incubator.

Before I put the GIANT supermarket eggs into the 'bator, I checked to make sure they had the white bullseyes. Some did and some didn't. They were over 3 weeks old so I'm guessing that, and the fridge they were in caused none of them to start at all.

We bought 8 eggs on eBay, and after a week in USPS transit we let them sit at room temperature for 24 hours, and they went in on Friday night. So should I take Friday the 2nd as Day 1? Or today (Saturday the 3rd)

Here are our eggs, they are in a DIY styrofoam incubator with a PC fan, light bulb, and thermostat. Temperature on the 12" laboratory thermometer ranges between 101 and 98 degrees. Humidity on the walmart hygrometer is 50%.

Any advice getting us through our first hatch much appreciated!

I see. I'll try buying some and see if they had the white bullseyes. If they do they'll go into a 2017 test incubation.

Sounds like u have done your reserch good temperature, 45-50 humidity and patience lol. As far as what day, the eggs will hatch three fridays from the 2nd at the same time u put them on give or take a half a day.
