December hatch-along

Once ya pop you cant stop. Fired up the bator yesterday. Set silkie eggs last night.....getting quail eggs today lol. Oh boy.
 
How long do they take to hatch n how soon can they live outside
They go into lockdown on day 14 and generally hatch by day 18. They start laying themselves around 6-8 weeks of age (all this is coturnix quail. Ive never had any other kind). With this being winter Ill more than likely keep them inside until they reach adult size and then wean them to outside temps. There is a good sticky for this in the quail section. Hopefully I get a good hatch. I set 2 dozen

Every time I see a post with good news on Trader Joe eggs..I say....Man, I wish we had one of those stores nearby.  I am hearing that they make excellent layers.  
That is what I have read as well. I have taken extra special care of these Egg's as last hatch had big temp spike and overheated them so none hatched alive.

Momma finally brought them off the nest at around 28 hours old. Enjoying first boild egg but there not to fond of it yet.
 
Ooh, Emu eggs! Post lots of pics, I hope to get into Ratites myself once I move out of the city.

We go into lockdown tomorrow for the first hatch! Whoo excitedd!
