December hatch-along

Okay so I have 43 eggs left out of 60 had a lot not fertile. I came in today after looking at my temp and moved my thermometer closer to the center because it was reading 96 on the outside checked it again about an hour later and it was 104 in the middle. I has been like this most all day I am on day 9 what should i do. I have new parts on the the way as i had a very unstable heater in my bator and the company is replacing it but it is in the mail. At night it is getting to 89 and in the day it is rising to 104 I have tried wrapping it at night and adding rocks I put vent covers in at night take out in day. I dont want to lose them i can see movement in most all of them could last night have to check them again to see now. What can help me out they sent the part yesterday so it most likly will not get here for a week or so :(

My incubator did the same thing i had to reset the tempature two time a day morning evening youll have to keep an eye on it as long as it doesent stay at this temp for long periods of time you should still get some to hatch

I can't wait for mine to hatch. I still have seven doing well. I do have one egg that has a much larger air sack than the other eggs...Should I be spraying this one down individually to try to stop it from getting much larger? This is a duck egg on day 17.

I wouldn't spray it. It looks good. Haven't done many ducks.. a few..but I am liking the looks of that air cell at day 17. And, if you spray it, the whole bator will raise in humidity.

Is it a still air incubator? If it is can you try putting in a little fan in? It might help.

Do you have a room that will keep the temp pretty much the same day and night? Not sure what bator you have, but I have one that is going down at night also. I don't usually use the plugs...but I do at night because the room I have it in gets way cooler at night. I use the plug at night..take out in the day. Helps a lot. Don't wrap your bator. ;) Also, are you switching your eggs around the bator so they all get the warmest spot at times, and the coolest spot at times? I do that in the morning, not at my 3 o'clock turn, but then again at night.

Okay yall at the first of the year i will be incubating big time i have 3 incubator that hold 50 each

Some of my babies this morn. 10 in the brooder means of the first batch of eggs 6/10 Coturnix hatched and 4/8 Buttons hatched. Not great but also not terrible since these were the fist eggs my birds had laid and only my second time incubating. I'm learning from my mistakes, though, and have started dating eggs with pencil as I put them in the 'bator. In short order I'll be able to pull all the undated eggs but for now I can't tell if they are dead eggs or ones that haven't developed yet! Any advice or is my plan ok?
